General Info FAQ

How can I get my child involved?
Contact the ranch office at 925-413-1947 to schedule an appointment during our open season. Scheduling for the next month begins on the 15th of the current month (i.e. scheduling for April begins on March 15th or the following business day).  Our season begins the first week of April each year.

Can I send my child to the ranch?
Part of FTYR’s focus is to bring families together.  Because of this we ask that parents accompany their child.  A parent’s presence is quite often central to a child’s experience at the ranch.  Allowing fathers, mothers and guardians a chance to rest and enjoy the beauty that God has provided is also a part of what we do.

What kind of children does FTYR serve?
Flying T Youth Ranch serves all children between the ages of 7 to 18.  Being a kid in this day and age is tough enough.  The kids we work with are simply kids.  Some are disadvantaged and some are healthy.  Some come for mental, physical, emotional, and functional reasons and some come simply because they do not have access to a horse.

What do you charge for a child to attend the program?
Our program is absolutely free of charge.  The only requirement for children is that they have an open heart and want to attend.

Can we visit the ranch?
We would love to have you out to the ranch, even if it is just for a visit.  We are open by appointment only.  Please feel free to call the ranch office at 925-413-1947 to schedule a tour.

Does the ranch ever close?
FTYR maintains normal business hours during the year.  However, the daily riding program is not offered during the months of December to March due to the winter weather.

Is FTYR a residential facility?
FTYR is a day-use facility only.  This means those who use the ranch visit it during the day but are not housed here.

Is FTYR a religious organization?
No.  The ranch is not associated with any particular religious congregation.  FTYR is a faith-based organization.  The ranch was founded on the same Judeo-Christian values that our nation was built upon.  Faith on the ranch is “lived”, not “preached.”  The Founders and Board of Directors all believe in God and the saving grace of His Son Jesus Christ.  It is our greatest desire to serve God by the demonstration of our faith through action in the support and loving of families.  It is our highest honor to serve children and families of all backgrounds.
